11/18/2011 · Your ZF emergency brake is cable operated and won’t surprise you with sudden application. It holds 4oz. of ATF and if run dry, it will heat and weld its self to the transmission output shaft, causing you to purchase not only a new E brake but another transmission.. There are rebuilt ZF E brake assemblies to be found on the Internet.
